DLLescort is a system optimizer specifically intended to repair errors in operating system files, which can get corrupted or be missing due to such causes as virus activities and disk errors. The program is very easy to use as it requires minimum user intervention. It can start automatically and hide in the System Tray, from where it provides a brief report about the problems found.

The tool’s interface is very similar to those of other optimizers. You find the characteristic tabs that serve to compartmentalize the functions. The first of these tabs shows the general status of the system and the date of the last checkup. The second tab, in turn, is where you can find the most important features. In this respect, the program can find file errors and registry issues as well as recover disk space. The scan is quite fast: in around a minute, you can get a report with all the problems found. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to select only those entries you want to get fixed. It is also a shame that the trial version does not give you any evidence whatsoever of its efficacy because you can only view the problems and it is not possible to fix any of them. The third tab is where system files are fixed. Again, it is too bad you have to provide the name of the file manually. Finally, the Settings tab lets you manage startup programs by disabling undesired entries.

All in all, I regret to say that DLLescort has nothing special to convince me that I should use it. As said, its trial version does nothing to prove its effectiveness. Moreover, it does not allow to schedule scans. On top of that all, some antivirus programs report it as probably dangerous for to your system.
